Board of Directors Recruitment!

The Carolina Youth Action Project (CYAP) has radically reimagined the structure of our board to better support the wants and needs of our core team members. We are excited to receive applications from folks looking to join our 2021-2022 Board of Directors! 

The Board of Directors will now serve as a care-focused team tasked with supporting core team members’ rest, wellness, and personal transformation. The Board encourages core team members to tap into their abundant power and engage in their own ongoing, non-linear healing processes. As such, the Board of Directors contributes to CYAP’s long-term sustainability and moves the organization in deeper alignment with their mission, vision, and core values. 

All board members commit to serving on the Board of Directors for a minimum of one two-year term. Each term begins in January and ends in December of the following year. At least five members of the Board of Directors will also serve as personal wellness collaborators for core team members. To prioritize safety in the time of COVID-19, the position will be entirely virtual throughout 2021.

Our team is hoping to develop a Board of Directors comprised of healers, youth workers, practitioners, organizers, care workers, artists, and dreamers who have skills, insight, and/or experience in the following areas: 

Acupuncture, Acupressure, Ancestor Work, Astrology, Dance, Dream Work, Emotional Freedom Techniques, Healing Justice, Homeopathy, Life Coaching, Meditation, Mindfulness, Naturopathy, Plant Medicine, Qigong, Reiki, Restorative Justice, Social Work, Somatics, Sound Healing, Tarot, Transformational Coaching, Transformative Justice, Yoga

Board Member Responsibilities

Wellness Support 

  • Coordinate quarterly rest & recovery activities 

  • Coordinate annual CYAP wellness retreat 

  • Compile & distribute resources for rest, wellness, & personal transformation 

  • Connect core team members with relevant resources 

  • Facilitate core team mediations and accountability sessions

  • Complete annual organizational wellness assessment 

  • Build caring, compassionate, authentic, supportive, and anti-oppressive relationships with core team members and fellow board members 

Administration

  • Participate in and facilitate quarterly board planning meetings 

  • Read & respond to email communication within one week

  • Participate in semi-annual Reflection, Assessment, & Review Process 

  • Update CYAP’s organizational by-laws 

  • Review and approve CYAP’s annual budget

  • Establish a personal financial commitment to CYAP on a monthly, quarterly, or annually basis

Wellness Collaborator Team Responsibilities 

  • Coordinate & facilitate monthly personal wellness collaboration sessions

  • Attend and facilitate quarterly wellness collaborator check-in meetings

  • Attend all Reflection, Assessment, & Review (RAR) sessions for your specific core team member
